Mario Balotelli: Italy Wants to Win Euro 2012

Italy striker Mario Balotelli admits his side are going to Euro 2012 next summer with the aim of winning the tournament.

The Azzurri lost Tuesday’s international friendly in Rome 1-0 to Copa America champions Uruguay.

But the result has not dampened Balotelli’s hopes of Italy stealing the spotlight in Poland and Ukraine next year.

“We’re going to Poland and Ukraine to win, otherwise it’s the end of the world,” Balotelli told Rai Uno after the game at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Manchester City forward had chances to score against the Uruguayans, but he failed to find the net on numerous occasions.

However, the 21-year-old believes that luck, or lack of it, rather than poor finishing is to blame.

“I am angry with myself, as I was unlucky and the ball didn’t want to go in the net,” he said.

Balotelli is likely to be in action next when City welcome Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. - goal
