UK sports minister asked Sepp Blatter to resign as FIFA president because of his statement that seemed to close eyes of racism in football.

“For the good of this sport, he should step down,” said British sports minister Hugh Robertson.

Blatter previously claimed in a television interview that racism does not exist in the field. He said the racist language used by players can be solved by just shaking hands at the end of the match.

According to Robertson, Blatter’s comments are unacceptable. This was also a subject of questions about Blatter’s ability to keep leading FIFA .

“His statement was the last episode that provoked the question whether he deserves to be president of the world football organization. There should be no place for racism or exclusion in or outside the field,” he said.
