Didier Drogba Rejects Contract Extension
Didier Drogba refused a one-year contract extension offered by Chelsea, but still wanted to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Thierno Seydi, Drogba’s agent, said his client also rejected a loan proposed by AC Milan. However, Seydi said, there is a possibility that Drogba could receive tempting offers from clubs in Russia, Qatar, and U.S. Major League (MLS).
“Milan came to me. Without thinking, I immediately said no,” said Seydi.
“The loan offer with a permanent transfer option does not interest us,” he continued.
Drogba is back in the first team of Andres Villas-Boas’ squad, due to the bad performance of Fernando Torres. He scored again in the Champions League, although Chelsea were not able to avoid defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Drogba’s contract with Chelsea will end this season. He could have signed an agreement with other clubs in January 2012.
Seydi admitted that his client rejected the one-year contract extension. According to him, Drogba wants a longer extension, because he wants to end his career at Stamford Bridge.
If Chelsea refuse, then Drogba will consider offers from other clubs. Seydi also said Drogba deserves a longer extension offer, and to end his career at Chelsea.
“For a 33-year-old player, Drogba does not need to prove anything anymore,” Seydi ended.
