Lionel Messi is backed by fellow Barcelona player Thiago Alcantara to defend his title as FIFA’s Worlds best player in the Ballon d’Or.

The Argentine star was nominated for best player along with Andres Iniesta and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Thiago is sure that Messi is the most decent to come out as winner.

“Leo Messi deserves to win the Ballon d’Or than Xavi and Cristiano Ronaldo. It is a satisfaction to play with him,” said the Spanish midfielder, according to Marca.

Thiago showed great development under coach Pep Guardiola and promised to keep playing better in the new year.

“In 2012, I want to keep working hard, learn from fellow players, and continue my work in recent years,” he said.
