A red card received by Wigan Athletic defender Gary Caldwell in the 75th minute was lucky to be saved from substitute Ben Watson‘s penalty in a match that ended dramatic.

Hugo Rodallega sends a cross from the right which was struck by Victor Moses to put the visitors ahead at halftime.

But Stoke City replied through a penalty by Jonathan Walters after Caldwell handed the ball which also ended with a red card and then Cameron Jerome puts the hosts ahead six minutes before the end of the game.

But Watson’s penalty finally gave the visitors a point from the Britannia stadium to keep a distance of two points from safety zone, while Stoke failed to maximize the defeat of Newcastle who are four points clear at the seventh position.
