AS Roma Gives Daniele De Rossi an Ultimatum Regarding a New Contract
After long negotiating Daniele De Rossi‘s contract extension since summer, AS Roma reportedly issued an ultimatum to De Rossi to immediately ensure his commitment before the end of January.
Both have not met an agreement due to the amount of salary. De Rossi, who’s contract at the Olimpico will end in about six months, wants a nominal of €6 million.
I Lupi management in their final bid would only offer a salary not much different from what is received by De Rossi at this time, but they include a series of bonuses and clauses that can actually make the 28-year-old midfielder earn more than he wants.
But De Rossi insists he only wants the €6 million in the form of fixed salary without depending on additional clauses.
If this situation continues without a meeting point, Roma through general director Franco Baldini will end the negotiation.
“We expect an answer at the end of January. We can not offer more, ” he told Il Messaggero.
Speculation circulating in Italy lately declared that Baldini will soon meet with the agent of De Rossi, Sergio Berti, related to this issue. If the deal remains difficult to meet, Roma is believed to be ready to release De Rossi at the Mercato this winter.
