Evian Appoints Pablo Correa as New Coach

Pablo Correa EvianAccording to Sky Sports, Evian Thonon Gaillard will appoint Pablo Correa as coach following the resignation of Bernard Casoni on Monday (1/2) yesterday.

Coaching Evian since January 2010, the club’s board of directors confirmed that they would not renew his contract which runs out in June.

It’s actually quite surprising considering the 50-year-old led Evian to a successful streak of promotion from the Championnat National (Division III) until Ligue 1 2011/12 season

Evian’s record as promoted team so far is not so bad. Until journee 19 or half season of the competition, Evian are in 11th position with a collection of 22 points.

Casoni – who finally decided to resign – briefly appeared on the team’s training session on Monday to say farewell to his team.

“At least that’s what I can do, together we have experienced some extraordinary moments. I can not leave without saying good-bye to them,” said the former Marseille player.

As predicted, not long after the resignation of Casoni, Evian announced Correa, the man from Uruguay who had long coached Nancy, to be his successor.
