Capello Has No Plans of Becoming Manager in Italy

Fabio Capello February 2012Fabio Capello has said that he plans to take a break rather than returning to coach in Italy after blaming ‘misunderstanding’ for his decision to resign as England manager.

The Italian manager decided to resign from his position on Thursday, after the English Football Federation (FA) decided to remove the captain armband of the Three Lions from John Terry because of court delays related to allegations of racial harassment on the player.

“I did not run away. I left because there is a misunderstanding,” Capello said to Italian television station, Mediaset, in Lugano, Switzerland. “I feel very happy there, but sometimes there are times when you should decide to leave.”

Capello had already planned to leave his position as England manager after the end of the Euro 2012 competition in July, and insisted that he does not want to find a new place.

The 65-year-old manager’s thinking is unlikely to change anytime soon, although Inter Milan have been linked with the manager who is also former manager of AS Roma, Juventus and AC Milan.

When asked whether he intends to return to Italy and manage club level again, Capello responded: “Not in Italy, of course not. For now, I want to relax.”
