Nathan Dyer brought Swansea ahead in the fifth minute of the game. The movement done by Stephen Warnock managed to open Villa’s defense. The ball was then passed to Dyer who shot it directly to Bradley Guzan’s goal.

Another quick goal by Swansea once again surprised Villa. In the second minute of the second half, Guzan again conceded after Wayne Routledge scored the winner for Swansea.

To realize Bent’s transfer to Anfield, manager Kenny Dalglish has prepared a fund of £24 million.

Villa never said that they are not willing to release Bent on the transfer market this winter. However, the great appearance of Bent helped Villa beat Chelsea at the weekend invites more interest by other clubs like Liverpool.

A move to Liverpool will open the door for Bent to join the England national team in Euro 2012. In addition, if he does join the Reds, Bent will be reunited with his former teammate at Villa, Stewart Downing.

Stiliyan Petrov, and substitute Darren Bent, scored the winning goals for Villa. This defeat is really an end to the hopes of the Blues to win the title. Chelsea only won three points from their last four games, and slipped to fourth position.

Villa managed to get their first victory at Stamford Bridge in the last ten seasons. Bent appeared as a substitute in the second half and managed to complete a 3-1 victory when the game had seven minutes remaining.

“Ireland looked fantastic today,” Bent told Sky Sports.

“Honestly, what the fans witnessed is what we see at practice every day. He’s always been the best player at practice. He is able to keep the ball and give a pass. Today he deserves praise for a fantastic show.”

“He is so consistent so it is quite confusing why he sometimes does not play. At the same time, he got a chance today and was able to use it well.”

To score his goal, Bent received an assists from Ireland who cut a pass by Frank Lampard in midfield. Although he had a chance to score a goal, Ireland gave the ball to Bent.

Bolton Wanderers

The 27-year-old was a free agent after leaving Villa Park this summer following a four-year spell with the Midlands club.

Reo-Coker has represented England at Under-21 level but has never featured for the full national side, despite featuring as a standby midfielder for the 2006 World Cup squad.

The former West Ham and Wimbledon player becomes Owen Coyle’s second summer signing, after capturing Swansea City midfielder Darren Pratley, and could feature in the club’s pre-season friendly with Bury on Wednesday evening.

Coyle highlighted Reo-Coker’s top-flight pedigree when announcing his signing and feels the midfielder has a lot to offer.

“We’re delighted to have signed Nigel,” Coyle told the club’s official website.

“He’s got the quality, drive and desire to compete at the highest level in the Barclays Premier League and I’m delighted that we have been able to bring him to the club.”

Reo-Coker himself also spoke of his delight at sealing the move, adding that he is looking forward to the new season.

“I spoke with the gaffer and he outlined his plans and how he wants the club to progress. I want to be part of that and I’m looking forward to meeting up with the lads and getting to work,” he added.

Aston Villa

Last weekend, Given had to undergo a medical test at Villa Park. Completion of  the negotiation process was carried out on Monday. However, there is no official statement on how much it cost The Villans.

Given’s move to Villa gives hi, the chance of playing regularly again. The players who joined City in 2009, was not able to compete with Joe Hart to get into the first squad last season.

Given admitted that he is happy to be part of Villa’s squad next season.

“Aston Villa is a great football club, and I am really happy to join here,” says Given at his new club’s official website.

“I want to train and play with my colleagues here. I am very pleased to be here. I hope the move could restore my performance in the Premier League.”

Stewart Downing

Having agreed personal terms and completed a medical, the 26-year-old becomes the club’s fourth signing alongside Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni, who completed his switch from Roma earlier on Friday.

The length of Downing’s contract has not been announced but has been described by Liverpool as a ‘long-term deal’.

And although the exact amount paid for the midfielder has not been confirmed, it is thought to be in the region of £20 million.

Downing moved from Middlesbrough to Aston Villa in 2009 for a fee of £12 million and has revealed his aim to secure silverware at Anfield.

“It would be nice to win something. I’m sure that’s the same objective for everyone, not just me personally,” Downing told the club’s official website.

“My aim is to be in the team, to play well and give something back because the manager has pushed the boat out to get me here, so hopefully I can give him something back.”

Downing concedes he was always vying for a move to Liverpool upon hearing their interest but admits he was made to wait due to the transfer negotiations.

“It’s been a long time coming and I’ve had to wait a few weeks, but I’m really pleased to be here,” said Downing.

“With the tradition, the manager and the players they have here, there was a big temptation to come here and once I knew of their interest, there was only one place I wanted to go.”

The England national team striker has scored 91 goals in the Premier League with Ipswich Town, Charlton Athletic, Tottenham, Sunderland and Aston Villa.

“I am still eager to score. I still want to reach my 100th goal in the English Premier League and I only need nine more goals,” said Bent.

“I hope to reach it next season and if I get it as soon as possible then I would be very happy.”

“If I get it around Christmas time I will be happy. That’s my goal, that’s my focus and my desire to do it.”

Manchester United

United had announced Young’s status as a player of the Red Devils through their official website. The announcement was made after Young passed the medical tests.

Young who joined Villa from Watford in January 2007 has played as many as 190 times. Young scored 38 goals during his stay at Villa Park.

Young’s presence at Old Trafford is welcomed by one of United’s star Rio Ferdinand.

“Welcoming Ashley Young to Manchester United, another top, hungry + young player joins the ranks,” writes Ferdinand on his Twitter.

Young is the second recruit for United in the transfer market this time. Previously, United have brought defender Phil Jones from Blackburn Rovers.
