Georgia Appoints Temuri Ketsbaia As New Coach

World Football News – After sacked by Olympiakos about two months ago, Temuri Ketsbaia has been appointed as coach of the Georgian national team.

Previous national team coach Hector Cuper parted company with the Georgian Football Federation earlier this week after collecting just three points from their qualifying group for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Georgian FA did not need too long to find their man, as Ketsbaia has swiftly been ushered in as his replacement. He has signed a deal until December 31, 2011 that comes into force on January 1 next year.

“I am happy to be given a chance to help Georgian football,” said the former international midfielder, who was capped 49 times, to uefa.com.

“We have decent resources and if we use them in a proper way we can play good football. I will not promise to guide the team to a major tournament in two, four or six years, but we will fight for it. I want a call-up to the national side to be a joy for all the players, not torture.”

Italy Coach Marcello Lippi to Include New Players In Squad

World Football News – According to Mediterraneonline.it, there could be some surprise call ups to the Italian squad. This was revealed by Italy coach Marcello Lippi who is also closely watching Palermo striker Fabrizio Miccoli.

There may be a few new faces added to the Azzuri during their double friendly coming up against the Netherlands next Saturday and then Sweden the following Wednesday.

“I look at all the Italian players. There are a few from Palermo who are doing really well, but I will not say any names,” Lippi said.

“I have been keeping an eye on all Italians, even those from Palermo who are doing well. However, I don’t want to discuss individual cases.

“I will keep an eye on those who are doing well, be it at Palermo or in other teams.”

Roma Say De Rossi Rumours Are Rubbish

Manchester City are currently attempting to piece together a record-breaking deal for AC Milan superstar Kaka, but have their eye on other Serie A targets. Italy international De Rossi is reported to feature prominently on City’s wish list, with Mark Hughes keen to put the Abu Dhabi United Group’s riches to good use.

Roma boss Luciano Spalletti insists the club have received no contact from Manchester City in regards to Daniele de Rossi.

The combative midfielder is held in high regard throughout world football, with his no-nonsense approach making him a firm fans’ favourite at Stadio Olimpico.

However, having only signed a new four-year deal in the Eternal City over the summer, Spalletti insists De Rossi is not for sale.

“A multi-million offer by City for De Rossi? There has not been any offers,” he said.

“However, De Rossi is a player that is admired by many teams.

“Kaka is one of the best players we have in our league.

“These are players that it is difficult to do without.”
